Arapahoe Chief Niwot lent his name to this small unincorporated town that was platted in 1875. Niwot means left-handed. Left Hand Brewery, Left Hand Creek, Left Hand Water District, Left Hand Grange, etc. now make sense.
Nearby you will find an IBM plant that dates to 1965 which lead to other tech companies opening facilities in the surrounding area. Executive housing subdivisions quickly followed.
This is a modern day “Mayberry” with family events, a small grocery store, mom-and-pop shops, and few franchised businesses. While the town maybe sleepy, the residents are smart. The public Niwot High School is top-ranked and offers the International Baccalaureate Degree Program.
While the location is quaint and quiet, you are just 10-minutes away from Boulder to the South and Longmont to the North.
The area offers many hiking and biking paths for your sunrise or sunset daily outing. Enjoy your dramatic Front Range views every day.
