Fort Collins

Welcome to Fort Collins

Camp Collins was constructed in the mid-1800’s as a stop-over for travelers and for the postal service using the Overland Trail. Fort Collins was built as the replacement in 1864. The town of Fort Collins was platted in 1867. Fort Collins is the county seat for Larimer County and the fourth most populous city in Colorado.

Fort Collins’ early economy consisted of sugar beet farming and sheep ranching. Today, you will find several large technology companies, Colorado State University and a medical complex that serves Northern Colorado.

Camping, fishing, hiking and mountain biking can be found in abundance in the Fort Collins’ area. Larimer County boasts 650,000 acres of National Forest System lands. In addition to these Federal Lands, you are welcome to enjoy Lory State Park and Horsetooth Resevoir.

Be sure to visit the Old Town Historic District with restaurants, retail shops, art galleries and a host of annual events. Fort Collins is also host to several major craft-brewing companies including New Belgium Brewing, Odell Brewing and CooperSmith Brewery. Even Anheuser-Busch maintains a brewing operation in Fort Collins.

Fort Collins is a modern city with a historic legacy amid an adventure wonderland!
