Broomfield

Welcome to Broomfield

The first railroad passed through the area in 1873 to haul grain from the farm fields to Denver. The origins of the Broomfield name likely related to the broomcorn crop historically grown in the area.

The City of Broomfield was incorporated in 1961 and spread over portions of four counties. In 2001, the City of Broomfield was incorporated as the 64th county in Colorado and today operates a consolidated City and County government. When people speak of Broomfield, they are referring to both the City and the County.

Broomfield has 8,000 acres of public open space, 63-parks and 290-miles for trails for walking and biking. The region Flatirons Mall is in Broomfield as well as the 1st Bank Center which hosts concerts and sporting events. The Paul Derda Recreation Center is notable for it’s 85,000 square feet of facilities.

Broomfield has much to offer!
